Osteopathy for temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain (Jaw joint)

The jaw joint is between the skull and lower jaw, also known as the TMJ. As well as pain in the joint, other symptoms may include clicking or clunking when chewing or opening your mouth, your jaw might get 'stuck', muscle pain around the jaw and side of the head, headaches or earaches.

I will use gentle techniques such as massage, stretching, rhythmical movements or cranial osteopathy to release muscle tension and improve mobility of the TMJ. Treatment is tailored to your specific needs, and might involve looking at other areas such as your neck and throat. I may offer postural advice and stretching.

Sometimes a referral to a dentist for a gum shield to be worn at night can really help with symptoms.
